Study of Nomenclature

Nomenclature for Argam Numerals

Nomenclature refers to the names we give numbers. In the case of argam, number names are called ismarragam, Arabic for “number names”. The table at the top, “Alternative ‘Anglo Saxon’ Nomenclature for Transdecimal Integers” attempts to generate more “English sounding names” for the argam. The table at the bottom “Standard Ismarragam / Nomenclature of Powers of Primes”, took form next. This table arranges the smallest 7 primes, running through the twentieth power of the smallest 3 (symbolically for the fourth). The numeral names produced in that table serve to generate names for 3-smooth composites in the middle table “Nomenclature of Compounds of Simple Primes Generated by ‘Power of Prime’ Nomenclature”. This table is arranged by power of two horizontally, and power of three vertically.
