House Portrait Study (Maryland & Newstead)

This is a study of light on the masonry of a noble home at Maryland & Newstead in the St. Louis Central West End. The drawing was produced in the studio from a photograph for the purpose, as summer months were upon us and the ambient heat wasn’t conducive to on site drawing. The textures of masonry and vegetation and the play of light on the ground plane are central to the study. This drawing is a proof-of-concept that I never followed, produced in an hour and a half. (The original is damaged). Produced 17 June 2000 = Tayya 6400, six dozen fourth phase (Añikç-Avindeloral Xrga, “Life Stage of the Delor House”).
