Ink Portrait of Terry

Ink Portrait of Terry

The St. Louis Artists Guild held a Thursday evening figure drawing workshop. For five dollars, you could practice your figure drawing skills, with a 30-minute, several 10-minute, and shorter poses. Most of the artists were painters; some of the poses were ongoing, multi-week poses that the painters attempted to develop. In the group was Missouri’s Billyo O’Donnell, a friendly painter fond of plein aire. This is a ballpoint ink sketch of the model Terry, who was often present in 1998-1999. I had hoped to sharpen my on-site abilities with ballpoint ink. The unforgiving nature of ink helps focus attention on accomplishing the drawing, rather than returning to correct flubs. The sketch was done in around a half hour. Produced 11 March 1999, six dozenth phase (Añikça-Vaðanaral Xrga).
