The Rykami Nixaþe, first called the Rykami Nixaþkaxe (Travels of the Apprentice), had its start late February 1993, soon after I landed a job at a small office on Michigan Avenue rendering loft makeovers. This sketchbook accumulated dreams and visions of faraway lands and futurescapes at a time when future careers seemed uncertain as the economy languished. This incomplete pencil drawing mixes items seen in Barcelona and Venice, probably done in summer 1993, shortly after graduation. That summer was hostage to an extreme case of unfunded wanderlust.
