Icarus Casca dal Cielo Falls from the Sky in St. Louis

A meek and informal graphite sketch, to have received color; the king of my melodramatic sketches. This drawing portrays Icarus, in office attire and with his trademark backward ball cap, falling from the heavens into Old North St. Louis’ abandoned Market Street mall. The title reads "Icarus falls from the sky…", with the phrase "of youth", partially covered by the Latin word “truth”, with "… to Saint Louis on earth". The Greek at the top is intended to read "The Downfall of Icarus". Rather than having his wings fall apart, it seems Icarus is not using them, just letting himself fall away. Icarus’ eyes are averted and he seems to be accepting the fall casually, nearly reclining, though that was far from truth. The thought in mind was, of all places to really fail, I failed in inner city St. Louis. Competition in the office with capable, boisterous rivals was bringing me into a funk (the Azenna Raþkyne or Arrogance Correction). This drawing signified a retreat from urban planning and neighborhood association involvement. The dynamic downstream of this drawing focused energy on processes that would eventually lead to Vinci LLC. Drawn spring 1998, five dozen tenth phase (Ñixaþ-Aðilyral Xrga), at St. Louis Union Station. I look at this picture whenever I feel I am getting too big for my britches.
