Summary of the Complementary Divisor Multiplication Method

This page summarizes a method to multiply in sexagesimal and similarly-sized highly divisible number bases by leveraging the pairs of complementary divisors (here called reciprocal divisors). The original name given to the method was the Reciprocal Divisor Method, now called the Complementary Divisor Method. The 6 pairs of sexagesimal complementary divisors appears at the top left. The abbreviated sexagesimal multiplication table appears on the left below the divisor table. Four cases applying the CDM are studied at right. One month later the page was developed into a 100+ page manual (The Reciprocal Divisor Method 2007, a 6½ megabyte PDF) on how to multiply in bases of the magnitude of sexagesimal through use of an abbreviated multiplication table.
