S. Jean de Malta from 29, rue Cardinale

S. Jean de Malta from 29, rue Cardinale

This narrow sketch was one of several hoped-for vignettes of Aixoise streetscapes, executed in ballpoint ink. I sat on a stoop in front of a home at 29, rue Cardinale and drew S. Jean de Malta church down the way. Midway through the sketch, the dour skies began to rain so I huddled closer to the doorway and finished the work in the light rain. Heavy rain precluded any further outdoor drawing that day. This drawing was entered in the 1997 AIA-CPC Architectural Drawing Awards but was too similar to the actual winner. Produced 12 May 1997 = Tayya 5818, five dozen eighth phase (Ñixaþ-Alindðal Xrga).
