Saint Louis University Hospital

A second “Drive-By” series drawing studying the ominous looking Saint Louis University hospital north of Interstate 44. Like the other works in the series, the image was drawn quickly shortly after having driven by the subject on my commute home from downtown. The image is not so much an actual recording of the area as it is a memory that mixes what was seen when my attention was activated to capture the essence of the scene. It is a study in urban light. Some fluorescent green was used in the roof of the hospital to simulate the intensity of the light from that part of the image. The streetlight at right has some black following the rightward-sweeping motion of the light in my eyes, simulating the actual optical effect brilliant light has in my eye. Produced 4 December 2001 = Tayya 6787, six dozen seventh phase (Añikça-Peretivanal Xrga, “Life Phase of the Demolition of the Zodiac”).
