Arebinâ

Arebina

A page recording an introspective stream of consciousness at Stacks Cafe in Clayton, Missouri. At top, Icarus admires Arebinâ in a funky headdress. The hexadecimal argam numerals appear between them, quite randomly, but are positioned purposefully in relation to the figures. Sketches from the coffeeshop, the Coke and cappuccino in front of me, appear below. Short verbal passages comment on the current reality, a full coffeeshop, rain outside, and the caffeinated reason why I am here. Other passages lament the botched relation with Arebinâ and attempt to put all the mistakes behind me. Page drawn 28 August 1996, Tayya 5643, five dozen sixth phase (Ñixaþa-Xiübanal Xrga). The marker drawing of Arebinâ on a calendar on the left was produced 21 July 1997, Tayya 5876, five dozen eighth phase (Ñixaþa-Alindðal Xrga). It is one of the first rapid sketches in indelible marker media. It was not intentially made to commemorate the girl, but the figure I’d ended up drawing resembled her, so received her name as the title. The marker sketch has occupied the Arebinâ page for many years and appears here because of it.
