This loose graphite sketch pictures Icarus and Mairenâ at the Piazza del Campo in Siena, married. The Italian at left reads “Celebrating the 43rd birthday of Mairenâ”, and at right “if it were possible” and “we could be together”. Icarus is without his hat, in his office attire, while Mairenâ is barefoot. The drawing was produced after chatting with her on the telephone. Drawn 9 October 1996 (Tayya 5679, Mairena's birthday), during the five dozen sixth phase (Ñixaþa-Xiübanal Xrga).
