Canada from Sugar Island

The late summer of 2010 had Vinci LLC in the clutches of recession; strangely there was an urgent project in the office (a8583). Our sister in law’s family invited us up north to Sugar Island, Michigan, just outside of Sault Ste. Marie. This veronal jimla (inversed drawing) took shape first as a light loose sketch of a scene outside of a cabin. The light on the stones, the foreground trees, and the foreground grass were filled in first, then the waters and the sky. The sketch was completed in around an hour. By 2010, I had thought that many of the lessons of drawing colored pencil on site were lost. This drawing and its sisters prove that the style is even more fluid and flexible. Produced 1 August 2010 = Tayya 8581, eight dozen fifth phase (Salcyra-Rynhaxharal Xrga, “Life Phase of Sacred Quietude”). Continued gratitude to Mr. Goodheart in sharing his peaceful northern home with us; it was one of the best trips of our lives.
